  • Aluminium comb depicting a figure ridding a chameleon. This kind of object were mostly items used to convey status, and were often given as gifts by men to their loved one, or presented as a gift at the birth of a first child. Aluminium is considered a replacement for the more expensive material silver. Aluminium combs are exceptional, because only few smiths are able to cast them. The combs were made using the lost wax technique, which means every comb is unique.
