HISTORY OF THE COLLECTION

As often seen in collections, everything starts with a few objects discovered after the death of a grandparent.

At the beginning of the last century, Leona Petit, wife of a French army captain, was travelling through Africa and Asia and she collected some hair ornaments. She also kept those she used for herself.

She could not imagine that the beauty of those few small objects found in her wardrobe would touch certain members of her family so much.

In fact, they became quite passionate about this unexpected legacy and decided to develop and enhance this collection.

Looking for new pieces and documentation, their preservation and enhancement was an arduous task, but little by little the knowledge they acquired in this field made them realize the importance of this area of expertise.

Thirty five years later their wish to share this patrimony has led them to establishing this virtual museum.
