After the French revolution, fashion was inspired by the Greek and Roman eras. During the Napoleonic Empire, this movement became more and more influential. The Empress Josephine embodied it and became a kind of cult figure of her time. She loved diamonds, pearls and corals and made the diadem-comb an essential accessory for all the women of the court. This exhibition reveals these hair ornaments as not only adornments but as true jewels too.
